What a horrible experience, would give -5 stars if i could, I travelled 4 hours on public transport from Bournemouth to this hotel in cardiff for the alanis morissette tour at blackweir feilds, I arrive at the hotel to be told our reservation has been cancelled. I explained that they needed to help us/ suggest somewhere as we're 4 hours from home and would have to sleep on the street as its all booked everywhere else and we didn't have enough funds for the £400+ hotels left, their response was apologise and tell me that's it. So they happily cancelled our room with refund in 14 days leaving us stranded in the middle of cardiff with no options, no help, nothing. This is a disgrace of a company and the lady at front dest needs to learn manners and empathy.

Terrible stay must be under new management. Used to really enjoy coming here but won’t be again. First we booked the room as 3 single beds, when getting there we had a double and a single, phoned reception to ask about it and she said she could ask her manager to come split the bed which wasn’t ideal as it was already 11pm and would take to long so we left it. Then we realised the air con didn’t work (in a heat wave) and was left two fans that did not work well and was coated in dust, not what you want blowing on you when your trying to sleep. The room was unbearably warm and non of us slept well because of it. Some plug sockets also didn’t work. They only gave us 2 towels for 3 people and the curtains didn’t even cover the windows so made us feel very uncomfortable about getting changed ect. Also there is now a charge of £10 if you want to use the pool which used to be free (can’t complain to much about that though as the first receptionist gave it to us complementary after hearing the price and saying no)

Booked in Jan for an event as the location suited but it's not really 4 star standard. Public areas were nice, Room a little dated but clean and spacious. Need more staff for checking people in as only 2 at 3.45 on a Saturday not good. Fans to replace air con were welcomed but not ideal. Also - Not the staff's fault but to have only 1 of 4 lifts operational from early evening into the next day isn't acceptable, 15 floors and the stairs led to the fire exit so we couldn't use the door as it would trigger the alarm. Need to upgrade the service contract!!! Restaurant food was nice and spa looked good.

3 out of 4 lifts not working in a 15 storey hotel with no one repairing them. Management should be ashamed of this situation especially as the housekeepers also had to use the 1 remaining lift with their trolleys! I’m afraid a sign saying sorry is just not good enough. On top of this the a/c in our room was broken, the room was very hot and we were given 2 very noisy fans. Overall this hotel did its best to dampen the enjoyment of a good weekend.

I stayed for 2 nights and booked via Agoda and paid in full (£175 for both nights). After I checked out, Holland House charged my card with £90. I called them and they said it was for the second night and that I had only paid for 1 night. When I said that I already paid for both they asked for screenshots as proof. I sent them screenshots of everything - confirmation from the booking agent and my credit card bill. They still charged me and have not refunded. An unauthorised transaction for money not owed to them. Do not trust them - please do not book here

Have been staying here a few times a year on business for a couple of years. It's declined so quickly. Was there on the hot weekend in June, no air con in the rooms. The building is a towering greenhouse. Had to have the fan pointed on us in bed all night to get some sleep. Sweating all night, got up and no hot water for a shower. Complained at reception and asked how long had air con been faulty, I got a shrug amd "i'm new" as an answer. Apparently the hot water issue was only for that morning, so that was ok... she said. No effort to point me to a manager or a complaints procedure, she just looked embarrassed. Breakfast was nice enough, but £16.50 per person was a little steep. Bar is lifeless. Evening menu isn't great. Avoid this property, especially in the summer as there are nicer places a stones throw away for the same money. £21 for parking is also taking the mick, holiday inn express is only £10.

This is the hottest day of the year to date. The air con is working in the hotel reception and bar (i.e. the floors on which payments are taken). The hotel has deliberately (yes deliberately) turned off the air con in all of the bedrooms. The bedrooms in this hotel have no opening windows nor external ventilation. I am currently sat sweating in front of a (small) fan the hotel has provided (which seems to be merely moving hot air around the room). This hotel has a history of poor management and under investment in maintenance, the staff on duty are doing there best but seem (appropriately) embarrassed by the situation.

I was gifted a spa day at the ishga spa by a friend, which I took in June 2025. I hadn't visited ishga before, nor had I ever gone to a spa solo. Luckily, I was in great hands. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at every juncture, explaining what to expect, giving clear instruction, and making sure it was as relaxing a process as possible. The pool, sauna, and steam room facilities were great (didn't go in the jacuzzi, but it looked inviting), and the changing rooms felt very clean and modern. When it came time to head upstairs for my treatment, I was able to relax with a cup of chamomile tea and have some chill time in the super tranquil relaxation room. The treatment itself (scalp massage) was incredibly relaxing, and the atmosphere in the room was perfectly calming. I felt looked after before, during, and afterwards. I could easily come back for another spa day, and hope to do so in the future. Thank you to all the staff!
